This page says what Clepen stores about you, who else sees it, and how to remove it. It is written to be read.
What we store
- Your account: email address, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), your role and when you joined.
- Your work: the briefs you write, generated names, shortlists, dismissed names, pinned directions and vetting results. Documents you attach or paste are converted to markdown text and kept with that chat so later rounds can read them. The original file is not kept, and you can remove a document from the brief menu.
- Usage: a count and estimated cost of each AI call you make, so budgets work.
- Votes: when someone votes on a shared shortlist we store a random id kept in their browser, not who they are.
- Connected apps: if you connect Claude or another app, a hashed access token and the app's name.
Cookies
One cookie, clepen_auth, keeps you signed in for 30 days. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Your theme choice and a voter id are kept in your browser's local storage.
Who else sees your data
- AI providers: your brief, feedback, shortlisted and dismissed names, and the text of attached briefs are sent to OpenAI or Anthropic to generate and vet names. Their API terms apply to that processing.
- Web search: when you vet a name, the name and your product category are used as search queries by the AI provider.
- Domain and handle checks: candidate names are looked up with public DNS, domain registry (RDAP) services, GitHub and npm. Those lookups contain the name, not your identity.
- Hosting: the app and its database run on DigitalOcean. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when the page loads.
- Shared shortlists: anyone with a share link can see that shortlist's names, taglines, origins and vetting badges. Nothing else in the chat is shown.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Admins
Admins of this Clepen site can see your email, how many chats you have and how much AI budget you used. They cannot read your chats in the app.
Deleting things
- Delete a chat, or all of them, from the chat and account menus. They are removed from the database right away.
- Disconnect apps from the account menu. Their tokens stop working immediately.
- To delete your account and everything in it, or to get a copy of your data, contact the admin who invited you.
